Genew Technologies, Inc. or GENEW, the Philippine subsidiary of Genew Technologies Co., Ltd., sponsored and hosted a two-day seminar for the Philippine Association of Private Telecommunications Companies, Inc. or PAPTELCO. The event was held in GENEW office in Makati City on August 23 and 24, 2018. Fourteen (14) member companies of the PAPTELCO group attended the seminar entitled “FTTH Seminar for PAPTELCO”.
Although the main focus of the seminar was the FTTH technology introduction, comparison with other PON technologies, link budget planning, migration and copper-optical network convergence, the seminar’s primary objective was to guide and lead PAPTELCO towards the worldwide market trends and technological evolution – to help them prepare, fast-track and evolve in pace with the rest of the telecom industry.
The first-day session was opened by Atty. Butch Ortega, PAPTELCO President and Owner of Iriga Tel (PAPTELCO member). He paved the way for all the PAPTELCO members’ awareness to consider the compelling factors why they should adopt and implement FTTH.
Fernando “Ding” Laguer, GENEW Country Head, provided the company introduction. He emphasized GENEW’s technology leadership and global presence as the key components and crucial factors on why GENEW is the best partner for PAPTELCO.
Joseph Solis, Jr., GENEW Head of Pre-Sales, Emphasis was given to GPON technology; its benefits and advantages over EPON; the actual components as well as the principles and guidelines in FTTx engineering, planning and design including Link Budget calculations, redundancy, applications and services – including IPTV, RF Overlay and Online Advertisement (ADS).
The second-day session focused mostly on the commercial aspects of GPON implementation. Genew’s unique MSAN+GPON solution was also introduced and discussed in detail.
